I entered a competition to get seeds of Hepatica no bills var. japonica, also known as ohmisumiso オオミスミソウ and yukiwariso 雪割草, from a nursery in Niigata in April this year.
They arrived yesterday. It was a big surprise that I won them. The nursery said that most of the seeds were collected last month from double and/or triple flowered forms.
I sowed them in the bonsai pot in Kanuma soil, which is acidic and suitable for growing native flowers in Japan. I hope they will germinate and grow next spring, probably in February.
